Power Steering Hose-Dealer Horror
So I had the dealer replace the power steering pump, twice, under an extended dealer warranty totalling them $550.
As a result, a hose next to the pump drips ATF like a water facet. They tell me, "Oh, this is a result of the new pump pressurizing the system, thus exposing old holes in your hoses/system." Seeing that this only happenned after they installed a new powersteering pump, and there was no pool of fluid in my engine bay before hand, would it not be correct for them to fix it for free? Also, would replacing the exhaust manifold with a straight pipe make performance worse and how would the exhaust sound in comparison?

Clamp and Fitting check
Quote:
While checking out all the "what if's" I found that the Pipe fitting was only finger tight. Thus leaving a real nice pool on the block every time I drove it. Check that hard connection. The hose connections use clamps, so check those too. Especially for leaks, it is high pressure after all. If you have some pipe tape, use it. If you don't, then go spend $2 and use it. Exhaust: I think I would stay away from anything that lessens back pressure. I'm sure these new fangled cars still depend on it quite heavily.

Well, my dealer said that it gives out something like 1600lbs of pressure and that the tape would not hold at a full crank. What about a clamp? lol
Do you know what aftermarket parts at autozone might fit the power steering high pressure hose?

Use the yellowpages to find a local shop that rebuilds High Pressure Hydraulic hoses and take your leaking one to get rebuilt.

Sounds shady to me. I think they messed it up. I had my high pressure power steering hose replaced for like $200 or less...a buddy hooked me up though. That thing was pissing fluid out like it was cool before. I popped the hood and he made me watch the hose as he turned the wheel. Straight...nothing...as soo nas he turned the wheel either way the fluid was literally gushing out. Hasn't lost a single drop since they fixed it.
