Unhappy OK, what's about to break?

Tonight, I noticed that my steering wheel would slowly jiggle from side to side upon application of the gas peddle, as if the tire balance was waaaaay off. It was so bad that it would actually shake my entire arm even at slow speeds like 10 mph. It only did this while I pressed the gas peddle. When I let my foot off the gas, the side to side motion went away. The ailment got worse and worse on my way back from work. After stopping off at the grocery store and driving away, the problem was completely gone. What could cause this intermittent problem? It wasn't raining or snowing, so there was no ice build up on the rims.

Thanks

Start by checking the torque on the lug nuts. Other then that, could be control arm (or bushings)or tie rod ends. Put it up on jack stands and get under it to see if anything feels loose.

My car did something similar when i first got it. The belt that drove the power steering pump was not tight enough and would slip occasionally causing the steering to feel jerky.

Thank you very much for the replies. The steering wobbling went away, but the problem developed into a clanking sound coming from the front when I accelerated around sharp turns at low speeds. Just noticed my front left tire was low on air. I filled it back up and the clanking noise went away. I'll definately check all those things.

Could be a CV joint going as well... the added lag of a low tire could have put pressure on it to make it show itself.. Id look into that as well.

That might be it. I noticed last time I looked at it that it was torn. And that would explain why I only hear the noise around turns. Thanks.
