This my be a really dumb question...

But does the AWD in the SVX work when in reverse? I thought of this while parallel parking between two snow banks this afternoon...

And no, I am not a n00b....Thanks.

When in reverse and '1' the awd is locked in a 50/50 torque split.

I have gotten out of the car while stuck in the snow with it idling in reverse. Yes, all four wheels spin. Kind of interesting to watch.

AWD does NOT work on my '92 in reverse; only the front tires have power. I discovered this while trying to back up out of a snow covered parking spot. I, too, got out and looked. WTF? This is a new tranny, and the AWD works while going forward . . . Might have something to do with the "missing" gear while gunning it while doing about 70-75 . . .

If i remember correctly it works in the snow. Last year was interesting because I drove through an unplowed parking lot where all the cars got stuck. I got stuck at one point but it was easy to get free when I reversed out of what I got stuck in instead of trying to use 1,2, or 3 with or without manual mode.

Maybe you USDM onwers show drive everywhere in reverse. Then you'd have a 10:90 torque split rather than a 90:10.

Solenoid pressure varies depending on what gear the tranny is in as well as what position the shifter is in. It even depends on the speed. Pressure drops off after 60kph.
