how to install cigg lighter?

I removed the cigg lighter, but i cant get it in, its such a pain in the ass. I removed it by popping the plastic white piece, holding with needle nose pliers, then from inside grabbed the lock nut inside the dash with a nose plier, wasnt easy, but i tried for more than a hour in putting in the new one, it was crazy, the only thing i figured out was to remove the whole console, but that i wasnt doing tonight. any suggestions?
