If anyone is reading this, I just talked to the guy with this car. He says that the PS leak he is pretty sure is the O ring. Also, it doesn't have a trans cooler, so I guess I should expect to replace that soon...There's also that crack in the windshield, so I'm not sure if this is worth it. That crack would really annoy me. Here's a pic...It's the best I have for you to see.

The car looks fine. Can he take a picture of the PS pump area?

Seraph, I just e-mailed him asking for one. What would you do about the windshield or about this car in general if you were me?

See if can be fixed. It not bring the price down even more. The 92 windshield can run as high as 900 in price.

Wow, I definitely don't want to pay that much for a windshield. I'm also looking at one near me, but no info on it yet other than miles and some stuff he replaced.

Out of curiousity, how much would it cost to make it manual? Maybe that will be a future investment...And how much does insurance run? I guess that's a bad question considering male/female/age makes a difference.

The manual could cost up to 4500 depending on who would do it and so on. Smallcar sells a kit for right around 3k but then you'd have to pay a mechanic and have it shipped.
My insurance is pretty low but I own 3 other cars through the same place as well as my house so I'm pretty sure I get the valued customer thing. I'm 26 a male and married so I would guess that is alos lowering my insurance. Driving record isn't bad at all few tickets but nothing serious. full coverage w a 500 deductable costs me less than 200 a year.

Wow, no way I'd get insurance that cheap. Rates drop for women when they turn 23, but mine is high because I live on my own and I'm paying off an accident as well. I'll have to call my agent about it.

As for the stick, that's a dream. Maybe in the future.

I don't know PA's inspection system, but in my great state of Merry-Land, a vehicle is only inspected upon its sale. A cracked windshield won't pass inspection here. IF the car is subject to inspection, why not offer to pay $3200 IF the car passes? If it doesn't you'll at least have a list of pending repairs. IF the owner won't agree to this arrangement, offer $2000.... then walk if necessary.

Ron.

Ron, that's a really good idea. I'm contemplating not getting the car in the fact that someone I inquired about buying a windshield off of said that taking it off their parts car it would most likely break so I don't know if I can replace it unless I can get a new one from a dealer. I don't even know if I want to go fork out the money for it. I would like a car that doesn't really need anything fixed (as of now) and that I can drive right away for college.

Stacey,

From the looks of the gunk, I can say it is the PS O-Ring. But I could be wrong and I have been wrong before. But chances are it is the O-Ring and can be fixed easily.

Like Ron said, I have no clue on the PA laws. Here in IL, there are no safety check or anything. You go to DMV, give your title and they give you a new title in the mail and new plates right away.
