Sumitomo tires

The XT6 I'm getting needs new tires. These look decent but anybody have any experience with 'em. Not looking for great snow traction. Decent would be nice though for the times I don't take the brat in the winter but these are the two tires I'm looking at from them. Can't beat the price!

I am using the HTRZII's as summer tires on my 17's. They are without a doubt the worst tires ive ever used. They are L_O_U_D, not sticky at all, and not even that great in the rain. You get what you pay for I guess.

Sumi tires

What are you doing at home Mike, you should be skiing! It seems that most everyone in the reviews either loved them or hated them who bought them from tirerack.com. I think most people are clueless about tires to begin with then when they replace their tires with brand new ones are amazed at the great feel that they provide. Ah duh!!! I don't know though $38 or 40 a piece might be worth it if I can get at least some grip. The car has 150k on it so its not gonna handle like a new car anymore. Any ideas on Hankooks? My mom's turbo has them on it and they seem to work decent. Although they were replaced 2x for going out of round.

im using stock size Cooper Cobra GTH all season tires and they are pretty good. good traction all around and a little noise but if you listen to the radio that goes away. as for cost....roughly 450 new

Tires

I was just on the Tire Rack site. I know alot of SVXers have purchased Yoko AVS dB's & Dunlop SP-5000AS tires from them. I was looking thru the replies from people who have bought these tires. I found replies about these two tires from owners of every kind of car except people who own & drive SVXes. They had replies from owners of Legacy's, 2.5 RS imprezas, WRXes, and even Outbacks. But alas, not one from an SVXer.

I was disappointed. If you bought tires, or are planing to buy tires from Tire Rack, please fill out the forms and reply to the survey cards. You may be helping a fellow SVXer without even knowing it.

Thanks

I guess it depends upon your expectations. My AVS dbs have about 10 K on 'em. Quiet on dry roads, seem good in the rain at speeds of around 70 MPH, & decent in the 3" - 6" snows on suburban streets & 50 MPH limit connector roads that I've encountered so far. If your looking for something that takes 10% uphill grades on slush, you're better off with "real" snow tires.

Ron.

Bought my Yoko AVS dBs from Sears 2 years ago. I think they're great tires. Very quiet . . . reliable on dry roads, rain and snow. I use them all year round, no problem at all.

I think you all missed the point of my post.
It was NOT about needing info on tires.

I was disappointed that not one SVXer took the time & effort to rbe helpful to others by responding to the tire rack survey.
Owners/Drivers of other makes and models put out the effort.
Why not SVXers?

Having owned 2 XT6s and tried lots of tires... My favorites so far have been Dunlop D2A60s, which are now discontinued. Their replacements are the Dunlop Sport A2s which are great. I'd get them for an XT6 for street use. For track/auto-x get a set of Kumho V700s.
