2003 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

I propose a meet in conjunction with the 2003 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. The festivities will be held from 7/12-7/20 with the races on 7/19 & 7/20. Here's the site http://www.pvgpa.org/

I've been to these in the past and they are a great time in a great town, I might add. The Schenley Park area of the city is a great area for dining, night life (Pitt campus, among other universities), etc.

If this is appealing to a decent sized group of us, I'd be happy to see what we can do about securing a SVX area on the race grounds in the park. Subaru is a sponsor, so they may be able to help!

Please give me your thoughts and feedback.

Todd

How hot does it get in Pittsburgh in July. Is it like Philly or Lafayette?

Hi Larry

I doubt ANYPLACE is like Lafayette in July!!!

It does get hot and humid in da 'burgh, but the park is beautifully treed and there are plenty of shady vantage points to watch some fantastic old cars being put through their paces

Pittsburgh is MUCH cooler than Philly. It's not even close. Where I am, north of the city, it snowed every day last week.

Sounds good. Make up a meet. Decide on a Hotel and we'll be there.

I wouldn't say that. It gets like that here in Winnipeg sometimes as well.

Sometimes warmer.

Cool

If this meet generates enough enthusiasm, how about a run down to Fallingwater? A shot of a dozen SVXes with Frank Lloyd Wright's creation as a backdrop would be ecstasy. Of course we'd have to float them down the rapids in front of the house, but I'm sure we'll figure something out. Just a thought - Ron.

Great idea Ron

I just don;t know when to schedule it. The drive to that area is about 1.5 - 2 hours each way. It would be a fantastic site for a shot though.

I'll get in touch with my Subaru regional guy (he drives an SVX!) in the near future and see if he can help.
