Semi-OT or Every Cloud has a Yellowed Lining

Hi All you SVXers out there in SVXland,

I finally found the engineering reason for the yellowing plastic covers over the SVX headlights. And the correct answer is fog. I usually leave the house at 5:30 AM and drive 33 miles to work. This morning it was misty and foggy. All those high priced German motor cars with their blue-white ultra-bright bulbs were in a tizzy this morning, becuse of the reflection of their lights. Because the yellow light wavelength cuts thru fog better than blue-white, I had no problems at all and was able to cruise at 80-85 mph up the Blue Route, I-476.

Ah yellowed plastic headlight covers...just another little known feature of the SVX that was far ahead of its time.

ARGH!

I know people hate to hear an easy solution when the hard one sounds so much cooler....

I used some scratch remover paste, an old towel, and a Mouse hand sander. In about 30 seconds each my headlights looked virtually new.

I admit I still trying to figure out how to jam the Mouse INTO the headlight (or get it back out!) without disassembly, but it worked great for the outside.

So if you return your headlight assembly with a mouse inside of it do you think they will give you a whole case of headlight assemblies?
