If I disconnect my battery is it pretty much guaranteed I will have to reprogram my remotes (92 SVX). Thanks for a reply...

Re: Quick "Battery Disconnect" question

No, you'll be fine. From my experience the thing that kills the programming and sometimes the alarm unit itself is if the car battery drains to nothing over a long period of time.

Re: Quick "Battery Disconnect" question

I have disconnected my battery many times foe extended periods for various reasons and never had to reprogram the security system.

You can also buy one of those 9V memory savers that plug into the cigarette lighter than preserve the settings on your stereo, etc.

Re: Quick "Battery Disconnect" question

Nope. I unplug mine all the time and have never once reprogrammed my remote. The only time I've reprogrammed it is when I bought a new remote

Re: Quick "Battery Disconnect" question

I bought one without a battery (probably taken out months before) and the first time I installed one, the alarm went off and the remote still worked. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Re: Quick "Battery Disconnect" question

I've disconnected the battery many times and never had to re-program the remote. Put the key in the ignition to prevent sounding the alarm when reconnecting.

I once tried one of those 9V memory savers and the power antenna motor started making strange noises.
