01 outback H6 engine cover in SVX

Just kinda spitballing an idea here, but looking at the H6 cover in the outback's makes me wonder if it would be possible to swap the cover over to the SVX, and if so what it would look like...

Cover in question:

Nice idea. My sense is that it is too specific (molded) to the newer H6 to work on our EG33.

Why cover up one of the best looking components of the SVX engine compartment? The manifold is such a kick ass center piece and the first thing everyone looks at when you open the hood. It's an iconic design for that era of Subaru.

So many modern cars have bits of plastic covering up everything that cars don't have an "engine" anymore, just flimsy plastic everywhere. If anything it makes the cars look cheap.

You also gotta think that our cars are 20 years old (well some of them) - why cover-up all those leaks!!! - it will make it darn hard to see them when they first have issues!!!!

Re: 01 outback H6 engine cover in SVX

I loathe cheap plastic engine covers. I guess they're OK for engines that aren't very good looking, like the 4-cylinder in my girlfriend's '09 Toyota Corolla, but the EG33 is such a pretty engine why cover it up? Plus the engine cover in the '01 Outback H6 reminds me of the fake kevlar "six pack" abs on Batman's suit.

Just a passing thought really. Im 50/50 on the cheap plastic covers. In some ways they make the engine bay look cleaner. In other ways though, they are annoying and ugly. Guess it just depends on one's preference.

btw, YGPM Green. Would like to pick your brain on a 96 850GLT I'm looking at.
