E15 in SVX

EPA approved E15 gasoline for sale:
http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/20/e...r-sale-in-u-s/

Which probably means that soon states would start mandates for gas stations to sell E15. The article at the link above says it is not safe for cars made before 2001 - category where SVX obviously falls in. What are the problems going to be? Is it possible to prevent them and what needs to be replaced for that? Are such replacement parts available?

The main problem for older cars using ethanol is the rubber seals throughout the fuel system will be eaten away and thus start leaking. You can buy vitriol (I think thats how its spelled) replacement seals/o-rings that should solve those problems.

Re: E15 in SVX

Currently most states don't even mandate E10 at the pump. I know of quite a few places back in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana that still have 100% gasoline. I'm pretty sure there are quite a few out here in PA, and I'd imagine it can be found in most other states as well.

Also, keep in mind that ratios like E20 have already been approved and are sold in certain places...

Also, don't believe the fears about the higher alcohol problems. There's a guy in Wisconsin that has been running E85 for about the last 10 years in either a late 80's or early 90's toyota. He did no modifications to the fuel system and has put over 150k miles running e85 with no issues. I'm not a fan of e85 by any means as a "fuel alternative" other than an awesome and cheap race gas, but the outside air/moisture exposure to the rubber lines is going to be worse than the fuel for deteriorating the rubber.

Re: E15 in SVX

In the SVX owners manual, there is a page dedicated to fuel useage.
Preium only, and never more than 10% ethanol.

That is stated. They say damage to this high performance engine will occur if more than 10%.

Re: E15 in SVX

Around here E85 is only sold as "regular" gas. "Premium" is pure petrol.
