Talking custom airbox anyone?

after installin an after market filter,
http://svx-motorsport-accessories.st...hiflowfil.html

You loose the lid to your airbox, and its nice to have some big filter to suck in all that air, except you draw in the heat of the motor, and have no way to shield the filter,

My buddy builds hydroplanes, and does extensive cf and fiberglass work,

We are going to be making a piece that will surrond the filter in the stock box area, it will basically be walls extending out of the airbox base, up to the top of the hood, I think I may leave the top open like the k&n kits for some cars, and use rubber seals to push against the hood.

this should allow for the stock cold air system to draw air in, and still have the benefits of the larger filter.

We will be making a mold, and it shouldnt be too difficult of an install, Im just waiting on some more time in my life, and ill get it done!

Would anyone be interested in any? It shouldnt be too expensive, and im sure it will help! we are thinking mainly fiberglass, but we may do a run of CF, depending on how the boatbuilding season goes, i should have plenty of scraps to play with.

pics shall come as soon as i start R&D, and that may just be in about an hour!

Re: custom airbox anyone?

I think they make one that fits in the stock air box.

Edit:
I found it, it was under new stuff, not performance mods. I knew I saw it somewhere..

Re: custom airbox anyone?

I'm going to go ahead and point this out, and it's been discussed many times in the past here. The stock airbox outflows the engine by a significant amount. There is absolutely no benefit from modifying this part of our cars.

The best setup is a stock intake with a clean OEM filter.

Re: custom airbox anyone?

never seen the filter that fits in the stock airbox, thats kinda cool,

I am aware that the stock airbox outflows what the motor can use, I was just lookin for somethin else, not on the market, that will look nice, and differnt, not nessecerily mega functional,

i am curious if my filter does change the velocity of flow, and has less resistance, maybe ill play with it later

Also, I have the technology and know how, so why not?
