Re: Did U feel it ????

Yep, felt it here in NY. My window shades were swaying pretty good. I guess the Pentagon and Capitol building were evacuated. The quake was close to the surface.

Re: Did U feel it ????

I felt it.

Chandeller was swaying and shaking.
My flatscreen TV was swaying pretty good, thought it might snap the stand.

We ran out side, so did the people next door.

Local channel 3 news is eating this up.

There was a smaller one in upstate New York at 10:30 today, then the bigger one in Va at 13:51. I felt that one.

Re: Did U feel it ????

I was in my SVX and missed it by about 5 minutes. Everyone was talking about the quake when I arrived. I was like "what, when, seriously?!?"

Re: Did U feel it ????

We were just sitting in the computer room reading pages when it happened.
At first we were like wow that's a heavy truck, but then it kept going.

My house was built back in the 1800's. It has dirt floor basement, and the main supports are some logs, they didn't even take the bark off them back then.
You could here the walls stressing. There was creaking and popping.
The chandelier in the dinning room was swaying back and forth and the glass on it was shaking in the holders.
The glass shelves in the china cabinet were rattling with all the glassware on it.
The 46" samsung lcd was swaying really good, I would say it was about 6inches of travel total back and forth, 3"back 3" forward.
It started off barely moving, then it kept swaying more as the rocking went on, seemed like it was sympathetic.
It just gained speed and travel like it was getting pushed by waves. I really thought it was going to snap off the stand.
We got out the house, worried that it might not stay standing.

As we were walking out the house, the people next door decided they should get out there building too. Everyone was like !?! wtf is going on??

When it stopped, after what felt like a good 30-45secs, we returned inside and I hopped on usgs and saw that it was Virgina. I was like wow, that was an earthquake!

They evacuated the DMV here, posters and things were falling off the walls. Items on shelves were falling.
One of my friends wife works in one of the taller buildings in town and her office building was swaying and was evacuated. Meanwhile my friend was at work in plainville lowes on a fork lift and thought someone was on the back of it rocking it, when he turned to look who was doing it, no one was there, so he hopped off it and he said felt the whole building rocking.

My girlfriends parents were at watersedge the beach on the sound and said they didn't feel anything.

People 1 town south of me didn't feel anything. The town across the river felt it just as good as we did though. Seems like it was felt most on the CT river valley.

We thought it was so cool. We never thought we feel any earthquake.
