Re: 92 Ebony .. just back from ..

Pics should be coming soon.

Dave and I went out last night for picture-taking in Vancouver, and he made me pose (the 92, that is).

Dang, his 97 Laguna Blue is G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S.

OK... I've held you in suspense long enough!! Actually I would have had the pics up last night but I had a very rare internet outage. Usually my connection is great.

Anyway. I can't post all of the photos here so here is the link to the rest:

Here is a proud Obewan in his newly painted Ebony Mica:

I had a fender painted on an Audi last month and I was told 30 days. You can take picks before and after the wax!!

The guy restores cars . He did a great job on his 1936 Ford and on his sons 1964 Buick Riviera... I figure just a rear bumper and a hood. If I was going for the total car I know a few GREAT body shops .just kiding about a 6 pack . I am sure we would take a few 100

VERY nice !! And Black is not the easiest color to paint . Great body work. after it is waxed It will look even deeper.

I have heard that black or very dark can be harder to paint. For what it's worth, the 92 above is not black, but Ebony Mica (335, I think) .. which is a very very deep dark metal-flake red/brown/black. The sparkly deep red/brown/black is clearly visible in certain angles of sunlight, and that's what I am hoping to bring out and refine with careful and rigorous waxing.

Re: 92 Ebony .. just back from ..

well back in the day, we would rub out the whole car with a slightly abrasive compound ... sort of like polishing compound . I believe it was called " Liquid Ebony" then we would polish it, then Wax it .

Very nice fresh look. I like the wheels and front grill on the blue one; but on your batmobile, I like the spoiler and that you've retained the original badge-less look. Enjoy you "new" ride!

Confused with #1 badge-less look #2 spoiler or lack of on the batmobile and #3 wheels on the blue one ?Are they not the same on both cars(stock ) ? .

Re: 92 Ebony .. just back from ..

Don't know what's meant by reference to badges .. I don't have any on the Ebony 92.

Yes, both cars in Dave's gallery are stock, but I took my spoiler off (the 92) and had the rear deck refinished. Dave's Laguna Blue is a 97.

The 1992 cars didn't have the side badge stock. He took the spoiler off and the new paint covers up the holes. The spoiler was stock here in Canada but I understand there were some cars sold without it in other markets.

The wheels on the Blue '97 are stock as are the ones on the '92 but the later years were painted a lighter silver and the earlier years were the darker gunmetal. I'm not sure what year it changed, might just be '96 and '97 or just '97.

I have no external modifications on the Blue so what you see is stock.
