Re: Dragoontwo's 6mt swap

i have a gdb cluster from an 05 sti which is just part of the dial, the one that could work is from a gc8 sti and i highly suspect subaru did exactly what you're proposing and what i was thinking and used the spot in the cluster that they used for the auto lay out as the dccd display

I definitely agree on the start-up sweep being a really cool feature, but I wonder how much work it would be to interface the STi cluster with the SVX readouts and have everything calibrated properly.

Re: Dragoontwo's 6mt swap

Unless you can find one cheap enough, I'm not sure it will be worth it for me. I can't even find one of those clusters here. The closest thing I can find is at least $100. This to me isn't worth it for just a tiny plastic piece from the cluster. I might be able to get multiple ones made for a little over that price.

Re: Dragoontwo's 6mt swap

I do appreciate the idea, but if you go back to the first post I have already had one slightly successful go at getting one made. I had about 7-8 made for $25.

Re: Dragoontwo's 6mt swap

Alright. Any 6 speed owners who might plan on doing the display update. I need feedback. I am sending a spare cluster off to a company that makes overlays to get this done. The amount of overlays I can get will depend on the price. I do not want a list of people who want these but I want input on what should be on it.

Here's what I think: Blacked out front, with numbers representing percent, The word Auto on the bottom, Open above that, Lock at the top. Look at the first post to see what I mean. The only thing you will see when it is lit is the text. The bottom 3 spots(Auto, Open, and 20) in green, the next 2 up(40, 60) in yellow or amber, the top 2 (80, Lock) in red.

Discuss.

Re: Dragoontwo's 6mt swap

Great work on this, I really like all the ideas you've put together. My input would just be what I replied at the start of this thread, I think a font more closely matching the rest of the dash would fit better.

Under auto mode, does the display scroll up and down as it adjusts? Seeing red lights pop up on my dash when I step on it usually gets my attention pretty quick. I assume you'd get used to that though.

Re: Dragoontwo's 6mt swap

In auto mode it does go up and down as it works. However, it only does this if you adjust the knob. If you max out the knob, it will adjust all the way up to full lock in relation to how much throttle you give. if you only turn the knob half way, it will max out at that value with the throttle maxed.

A better way to put it might be this: say the engine is off with the key in the on position, the controller is in auto mode. Put the throttle to the floor and adjust the knob to how much lock you want at full throttle. During regular operation, the controller will adjust from 0 to the value you selected based on throttle and G sensor settings.

Do either of those make sense?

CAPS on the words, and close to factory font. I can try to get that as close as possible.

Re: Dragoontwo's 6mt swap

Yep, makes sense to me! Moving lights would be a little different, but I'd get used to them quickly enough. Plus the factor on passengers faces would be great.

Re: Dragoontwo's 6mt swap

Any traction on getting overlays?

I am trying to get a 6spd swap from an 07 sti and this seems like a very nice addition.

I do have some newer overlays that work. I'm not so happy about the way they turned out, but I also haven't gotten the colored lights to try them with that I wanted either. I haven't been able to drive for a while because of engine issues so I haven't done much yet. I just rolled over 200,000 miles.

When I get the swap done this (and the DCCD) can be implemented later right?
the default for the 6spd will still be 36/64 and wont give me drivability problems?
I think at that time picking your brain will be my plan

Correct. The dash display is actually output by the DCCD controller.
