Re: down shifting at 80 mph
Afraid of that, thanks. Maybe it'll just be the TPS...

Re: down shifting at 80 mph
Normally just the solenoid, valve, and gaskets are enough.

Re: down shifting at 80 mph
when it downshifts at 80mph, touch the metal at the bottom of the gear stick, or the side of the transmission tunnel. Does it feel hot? Your TCU may be going into overheat mode.
In overheat mode it uses lower gears and locks the torque converter to try and reduce the fluid temperature. This started happening on our SVX shortly before the transmission failed. Does your trans fluid look or smell burnt?

Re: down shifting at 80 mph
It was just the TPS!
I measured the voltage at 0.3V, adjusted it back up to 0.5V, and I've got my AWD back again. Also, it idles better, and is noticeably smoother under maximum acceleration. I'll be darned if such a simple adjustment didn't make a huge difference! Not a bad car for 19 years old, when everything is working! Last edited by rlutz; 12-13-2010 at 09:21 PM. |
