Hard to cuss about the weather the past two years. I know the cold really tanked our outdoor activities this year, but that's pretty much one for four for me. The thing that's certain is that moving it to May almost guarantees an overlap with autocross, bringing me to 9 hours of driving for 24 hours of Reading. Not cool.

I voted for one of the first two choices, just because of the possibility of having a group of broiled SVXers result from a meet later in the year, given our mid-Atlantic weather. But, as so many owners are now in the below 30 demographic, if it would help the young-and-trying-to-get-educated to hold the meet after school breaks, I'm good with it.
 I agree the HI has been good to us. It would, tho be nice to have a location with more grass and shade, if we move to late in the season. But whatever! I'll be there. I spent too many years thinking I might be the only person in the US who knew and loved this car. OK, I was out of touch, but my first Reading was one of the highlights of this past decade. Great knowing there are other crazies around!!  PS: I went to the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey on Sunday. For those who haven't been, it's terrific for a fan of the history of American (excuse me!) cars, and it has beautifully restored and unusual cars of every vintage.

Before we get to involved in the dates for the Reading Meet and how it pertains to weather, convenience, etc, we need to address one other issue related to the next Reading (XII) only.
What do we do about this meet in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary Meet? We held Reading III from April 5-7, 2002 and the 10th at Lafayette on July 19-22, 2002. In this economic climate, two meets in one season is quite impractical. We could combine the two, but we would have to pick dates and locations One option is to eliminate the Reading Meet for 2011, in lieu of the 20th Anniversary celebration in 2011 (celebrating 20 years of the SVX on the American Road, which was June 1991). Another option is to move the 10th Anniversary meet back to 2012 (celebrating 20 years since 1992) to allow for more planning and and deal with Reading XIII then. There are a lot of decisions to be made, a lot of various inputs, but not a firm concensus about what to do... As far as the next Reading poll, I will make my choice known after the poll closes. I just need to know for the hotel contract. I am sure that the votes will not be so close that my vote would tip the scale. . .

I, for one, would probably not make two meets in the same year. Since the format for the Anniversary Meet has not yet been decided (location, one site or two, etc.), I do not have enough information to make a decision on attending the Anniversary Meet. The only reason I would make that trek would be if there was no Reading Meet that year; I still look forward to an annual meet of some kind. I could not justify the expense of two meets in one year, especially since attending the Anniversary Meet would involve more time lost from work for both Tom and me (we don't get sick and vacation time).
I would agree to forego the Reading Meet in lieu of the Anniversary Meet if it were held in one central location, ensuring a large number of attendees, many of whom I may not have met. The idea of two simultaneous meets does not appeal to me at all; if we were to do that, we may as well just schedule the "west coast meet" for Reading weekend! As soon as those issues are decided, including what year we are planning to have the Anniversary Meet, we can worry about which weekend (and what year) to have Reading XII. Right now, planning for something that is a year away is a little more than I can think about. I'm still trying to get through this month. I suspect there are others in the same boat.

BTW, I have no preference as to whether the Anniversary Meet should be held in 2011 or 2012, although 2012 does seem more like the 20th anniversary of a 1992MY car. (IMHO)

This poll will close tomorrow night after midnight. Those not voting don't care one way or the other. I am assuming that after a month, any members attending Reading have made their preferences known. The majority will rule and I will then be making arrangements with the hotel. Next April COULD be beautiful... Next MAY COULD be crappy... But the weather SHOULD definitely be warmer. .

I am glad that you made the decision on this. I do not care how soon, or how late it is. I did not vote, as I have been under a car since about two month BEFORE Reading... If I am still alive, I will be there, and We will all have a GREAT time! PSSST, Reading's coming!
