I'm also curious to know what the $10k covers and what you are expected to buy/install on your own.

Re: 4-500hp Turbo Motor for $10k
If it covered what tom said, i'd say it's worth 10k, if it holds true to his numbers, ie. 400hp. I can't imagine the stock internals handling that, so there's forged internals. What about engine management? If he's doing the tuning, is hte book closed after that or can you make tweeks down the line. I think until someone gets the story strait from the horses mouth, i'm gonna percieve it as heresay. As the internet says: "Pix or it didn't happen".

Re: 4-500hp Turbo Motor for $10k
The dune buggies that guy makes are typically supercharged I believe, so I'd assume that he rocks a standalone engine management system (you could make a 1400$ AEM EMS work) Depending on whether the siamesed sleeves are done in house or not would effect the rest of the pricing. Obviously the OP said turbo, but he's banned now so...
With a supercharger, he could use the stock intake, stock exhaust (obviously there would be gains from a set of headers). I mean, 7K into the long block, 1500 for an ECU, and another 1500 for the supercharger and fab required to install it... I think all together it would be possible. That's not including the supporting mods like fuel injectors, fuel pump, exhaust, etc. Obviously he's not going to install it for you, but he might have an engine dyno to tune it on, or willing to tune it after you bring it back installed on a chassis dyno. Heck the other possibility is he's thinking that he could get 400hp out of a n/A build. Those sleeves significantly increase bore size, and with a taller rod, shorter piston, and some ridiculous cams you should be able to get 400 out at about 7K+ rpm. It'd be harder on 91 octane kali gas, but still possible. I don't think most SVX owners know how expensive it is to really do things like this. I mean, Tom, I bet you've spent way more than you want to think about, and you still aren't "finished". Frankly I'm waiting for the first LSx swap...

Re: 4-500hp Turbo Motor for $10k
The costs to build a 'not so popular' engine to handle much more power than what it was originally designed to handle will be quite high. I'm interested in knowing the details of this build, ie: machine work, internal parts, etc.
Here is what I was quoted for my built VG30DETT built to handle 850+ WHP (~1k BHP) Aftermarket parts for the 300ZX are more readily available and would be a bit cheaper because of the fact. Parts for the SVX would in most cases be more since they would be a less popular, made-to-order parts(assuming). Depending on the brand name parts and how much work is done, the $10K price tag, although steep, sounds accurate. Is it worth to pay that much to get 4-500HP? IMO, no, but some people are willing to pay that much. Im not too sure how robust the EG33 block is, but if people are making 1K HP race applications with them, they should do fine with just a piston and rod upgrade and some head work with cams.
