smoke from catalytic converter

Just replaced all my vacuum hoses under the intake manifold, put everything together and took the car for a short test drive.

There is a sputtering sound from the exhaust, and when I parked the car, I noticed a burning smell and some smoke coming from under the car, apparently from the catalytic converter.

What should I check? Not sure where to begin....

Re: smoke from catalytic converter

I fixed the problem. Once again, I am my own worst enemy...forgot to hook the coils back up on the passenger side when putting everything back together, and also had two small hoses reversed.

Now the car is running great.

A learning process....
