The GPS mount I made

Melis got a Magellan the other week. We weren't happy with the suction cup mount, so I decided to try something else.

I took the center vent out and used some fiberglass and bits of plastic to make this.

I plan to put a cigarette lighter socket behind the panel, the power chord will then come out through the slot on the right side. I need to make another one, since the clips were busted on this one, and now with the additional weight and the lack of a vent to hold onto, it slips a little bit.

Hey! Thats cool. Now you need a spare vent to stick in there when your not using that!

You know... Looking at the picture, I think the next version may move over to the smaller vent under the clock? That way, the Main vent is still there and can be aimed to either side.

It may make it harder for the passenger to see the display though? hmmm, I'll have to play around...

I cut apart a plastic bracket I had laying around for the teeth and then layed down some cloth and fiberglass batting and poured resin into the "vent". I then used spray cans to do the "stippiling" effect.

Interesting, had it been me doing it, I would have messed things up bigtime

If you do change it to the other vent, is there enough room there for the unit to sit without going over the clock?

Even though what you did is nice, but I think you have a lot of options available without compromising that main AC vent...

My air conditioner works like a dream and that is the smallest of the vents.

(you probably didn't mean me)

I'm very happy with Hocrest's idea. I rarely if ever use A/C (I hate the cold), but since nothing is permanent he is going to try different locations and see what works best for me.
I like the fact I have 100% vision out the windshield (wasn't happy with the huge suction thing) and the GPS is in a perfect location where I can diddle with it.
The only weird thing that happened since having Margaret was when Hocrest took her to do the initial mod, my Sirius radio stations would erase and stick me on channel 184. When he put Margaret back in, the Sirius started working normal again (I chalk it up to Peej is a lesbian and she missed her new girlfriend, they are back together and all is fine with the world)
