alright, clearing some stuff up here

SVX: AMAZING CAR, i love it to death
but its just way too expensive for me to maintain as a 16 year old
if that wasnt the case, i would most definitely keep the car
seriously
ive always been a subaru fan over anything else

when my stepdad bought his m3 (he was a suby guy before, too) he realized that "subaru wasnt the only way to go"
i didnt catch on at first, but after riding in his car and checking it out, its also a really cool car

yes, parts are cheap for the e30; especially compared to the SVX
no lie, front rotors for this thing are only $15!!!
idk too much about the entire car, not nearly as much as i know about the svx which also isnt that much, but my stepdad seems to know what hes doing, and he'll be the one buying it (technically the svx is his car, so its all up to him in a sense)

not true. I was amazed at how cheap most BMW parts were, especially compared to Subaru or Saab.
Anyone, point me to a $150 new O.E. SVX windshield.

An "M" series is a different story altogether. Most of the "M" parts are to aftermarket parts and, thus, are more expensive. But even on my M3 I can't believe how reasonable most parts are.
Add to that
1. The parts are all readily available.
2. The parts are available from a lot of vendors for less than dealer prices.
3. BMW offers an additional 10% off of dealer parts and service to members of the BMWCCA.
4. TONS of aftermarket support.

The E30 is going to be an awesome car for tiv0.

Well, I like the BMW, altogether different ride than the SVX but nice and classic in its own way just the same. what are your plans for the paint? it will look a whole lot better when the exterior isnt flat black primer. You going to paint it shiny black?

I would take the beamer as a fun daily beater, but the first snow or rainstorm I'd severely regret it. Same reason I didnt get myself that 76 2002 and that 84 318 i had chances to buy.

It's the status thing. They're cheap, plentiful and give you a BMW badge. They're nice driving cars, a lot like a rwd Mazda. Me I'd save up for a "real" bimmer, a nice 2002ti, long wheelbase 7 series, 540 wagon or the real 6 series and get a true bimmer, not just a Jetta made in Germany.

Wish ya the best with the car! I do understand the appearance of cheapness for parts but although there is great aftermarket stuff in the end you'll be visiting your local stealership for quite a bit. I like the painted grill btw I'm sure you have most other 3 series drivers wondering why you're not flaunting the fact that you own a bimmer!
