emrald pearl is a nice color...but if you want a change, go for it

seems you already had a bordeaux...and you seem to like reds in genral. go with the brilliant red...its not a bad color. Just be forwarned, under a street light it will be orange. if you want something slightly darker, go with the barcelona

Even they are both sraight reds, for some reason the barcelona red doesnt look as deep as the brilliant red does. and, it being a darker, non metallic color...it really dates the car more.

THAT'S the color name I was trying to say!!! What'd I say, "Ruby Swiss Mica"? Hey I got 2 out of 3 words right at least! Maybe I saw a picture of a Swiss SVX painted that color?

Great color if you are into Red. The picture I saw of the European car looked even better IMO, it's probably all about the angles.

Re: Time for Paint

This is bumping an old thread, but the topic is the same...

My new acquisition, a 92 Claret, is rough in the paint department. Clear-coat has de-laminated on several panels, and the roof is almost bare of clearcoat entirely.
My car:

I don't have the money to paint right now... so I hope it will survive an Iowa winter without getting drastically rusty. The base-coat isn't worn through, so there is at least something...

But on the way home, my wife drove the Legacy GT. Usually I am behind the wheel, but I got a good look at what my Garnet Red Pearl 2005 Legacy GT looks like on the road, and it really is a fantastic color.

It is very close to Mica Ruby Pearl, and Cadillac's Crystal Red Tintcoat is very close, and possibly more vibrant in sunlight.

I love this picture, and the color really does suit the SVX's lines and demeanor as a Grand Touring car.
NOT my car... but a very nice car.

compared to GRP, this is my Legacy...

I like Barcelona Red, but it is almost too bright. I like Claret well enough, but it is a bit dark, and hides the car's lines a bit too much. And unless completely re-sprayed in original paint-code color, the UV-affected purple is a bit under-dramatic.

So, I am thinking, if the car is to eventually get PDR, and ready for a new paint job, and a full cosmetic resto/mod... a full color-change paint job, I would probably go with Subaru's Garnet Red Pearl, although the more brilliant shine of Caddy's Crystal Red Tintcoat is somewhat tempting.

But I would most definitely keep the solid black non-metallic high-gloss roof, trunk-lid, and spoiler. perhaps also black auto-folding side mirrors, tapering into a thin pinstripe along the front fender character line, with tinted windows, for the canopy look.

Plus, I am thinking these wheels will really set it off, in 5x114.3, 17x7.5, 45mm offset... BBS CO style wheel.

With some engine upgrades, a 6-speed/torsen rear diff driveline upgrade, and other freshening up, as needed, I think that combo, even if not stock, would be very slick.

Besides, this car would otherwise be metal confetti by now, anyway... this is it's second life, and according to James Bond, you only live twice, so it might as well get a new look.

Re: Time for Paint

The barcelona red is actually dark, but a little bit lighter than maroon. The brilliant red is bright but looks orange.
