I always liked the look of that grille.

Off topic, where is that prototype stored?

Another good question is, is there any reason for the production grille to be open that the prototype wasn't? It's possible that they thought it would demand more flow.

Could be just for aesthetics; you tell me!

Even though I'm not crazy about the waterfall grille (I prefer the '97 style) it still looks a TON better, IMO, than the prototype grille. It would have made the car look very...*thinks* dated??

The look they ended up with makes the car look classier, if you ask me. I do wonder what those wheels look like though, just for curiousity's sake.

Not to throw the whole topic off, but I think alot of the front end of the svx is dated. A more curvy hood, and front bumper design would go a long way to fitting in better with the overall body. The svx is a sexy car, but the front always leaves me wanting to start shaping fiberglass in my spare time and mod the **** out of it. I love the car, but I always go, why do 300zx's get to be curvy....imo the 300zx and svx have a very similar flow.

Had the SVX been built as penned by Guigario, it would have been a virtual clone of the Ford Probe. Thankfully, the Subaru designers kept updating the design.

Again thanks to jamsvx website.

Well that's not bad news to me. You're right though, the concept is strikingly similar to the 1g probe. It looks VERY different than the original probe concepts I've seen though. They both started at very different places, but kind of ended up going the same direction. Having owned both generations of probe, I can say that the probe design is still nice, but the SVX looks more "grown up" compared to the probe designs if you ask me.

...Plus it has super sexy AWD. Mmmmm.

Your right about the styling but I'm diggin' the "4WD TURB" Especially on a H6. They were probably thinkin' of a 4 cyl. like the XT.

I didn't want to say it, but it's true.

Either with it completely filled in, or with the bars or whatever, the resemblance is clear.

I like that grill too. I think I would want it black or red.

I would also like a wire mesh grill that is curved to fit the shape. You know one of those newer thick stainless wire ones.

I think that original concept SVX had much better are flow to the radiator. The slots are very wide for the air. Wider than what we have now for the radiator.

In my opinion if you drive the SVX hard for awile on a hot day you will need the cooling area from the center grill. The SVX engine compartment gets pretty roasty when it's hot out. There isn't much room for air flow around the engine. Not as bad as the fanless Fiero engine compartment but still it's a tight fit.

Excellent. Figures that it'd come from Japan... I wish we could have their aftermarket readily available...
