To Mod, or not.
I'm struggling with a bit of a dilemma. After driving my new acquisition around, I am struck more an more with the fact that the car is as close to a perfect specimen as you can get anymore, that compounded with the serial number (0001) makes me think that perhaps I shouldn't drive it much, and shouldn't mod it at all.
What do you think? The car is question is my '95 Ebony Pearl

Keep it stock and enjoy/drive it, and look after it as a nice car. Importantly, you will have a yard stick to measure any mods you do on your other car.

Trevor is such a retarded fool and I never agree with him. What an idiot!
Just kidding. I + 1 him and w/ cynic it makes a +2 for keeping it stock as a reference car.

I found myself in the same situation, so I tried a few mods. Not one was worth the time and money! Keep it stock.

I voted 'leave it stock,' but I have to say that I'm more and more open to easily-reversible modifications lately. This past year I certainly improved the brakes on mine and I don't feel one bit of regret. I wouldn't swap in a manual, but I don't mind making small improvements that could be un-done.

I wouldn't do any body or tranny swap type mods, but can't see a problem with upgrades to shocks, brakes and the like. They can all be put back to stock if you wanted. If you have the space and resources to store it away that would be a good thing too.

That said, I agree with most of the others and leave the new one stock. I mean if you can afford to keep 2 around. I know how you love the things done to the Teal, and if you had to keep just one the ultimate SVX for you would eventually have to be modding the Ebony to 4.44's, etc. But if you can keep the Teal, just keep on doing what you were doing with that one, and keep the low mileage one stock with TLC miles. Don't seal it in plastic and store it away for 20 years, but enjoy it as the sunny day cruiser when you're in a more mild mood. That's actually my plan anyway.

Follow Earls example!

Because we love to be behind the wheel and on the road in our SVX's, almost all our cars have about 150,000 miles om them. I think the value of the SVX is increasing slightly, but what can we do? We absolutely have to drive them. The solution, since we certainly don't want to drive any other car, ever, is follow Earls example! Get yourself a bunch of SVX's! Keith |

If I could have my choice of SVXii, and a lot of money, I would keep my current 92 Ebony as the daily driver/winter car, with minor mods (5MT, wheels, brakes..). I would have a MINT condition 97 for my summer daily driver, completely stock except for improving some things. For example, the RaceConcepts brake kit, an upgraded 3.54 trans from ECUTune, HID headlights... Finally I would have an OBDI car in excellent physical shape that I would mod the bejesus out of and use as the weekend monster.

Well folks, the decision has been made, the ebony is getting the 4.44s, phenolic spacers, drop springs, konis, and all other mods that my tealy already has.
And congratulations on mysvxrocks, who has purchased my Teal, he is getting one heck of a car for the money, and I know its going to a loving home, so its a win/win really. -Patrick
