The element must be arranged to be insulated from extraneous heat and be in free air. This factor will have a profound affect regarding a practical possible location, as well the make up of the sensor. The physical aspects of the MAF provide food for thought.

Look at the AEM temp sesor that I found on ebay. It is a wire probe that extends into whatever the chamber is that you are tapping. From looking at it I believe that it would be free from reading parasitic heat from the manifold. What do you think, Trevor?

Do a for data and possible experimentally constructed gear. Temperature measurement is involved in several hobby projects and I am sure I have seen articles on making up stuff. There are temperature sensors available for use with a multi meter, but such would have to be mounted in some way and a conversion chart is usually involved. You are delving into an area of considerable interest and figures would be worthwhile. I would not be surprised if it will prove difficult to better the OEM set up, in respect of NA engine. Let us know how you get on, Trevor.

The item has not ended. Look at the second URL listed. The auction does not end for 2 days. AU and NZ aren't THAT far ahead of us

Now that I see what you were talking about earlier Bobby, the 2nd sensor looks like the way to go.
tap manifold, use some hollow threaded rod instead of bung, and rig up a translation box to match the output of the new sensor to the output of the old sensor. Which is the part I don't know enough about. I've only done that sort of thing following instructions for a specific application. That was for getting the touchscreen in my reatta designed to read data from a series 1 3800 to display the correct data from a series 2 3800 turbo

I am getting this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m29 and then sort of doing what Speedklix said above. I am not sure if I will wire it into my climate control. I would like to but need to know more about the climate control first.

What is designed to be inserted/mounted into, a heat conductive or an insulating material? I can see no evidence of thermal insulation between the probe and mounting. I would think that it incorporates a thermistor.

P.S. Best option of the two. Can you do some research and find more information. Is a thermistor incorporated? If so what are its specifications? What is it designed to mate up with?

Trying to utilize the climate control in some way is not a good idea. Hold off for a day or two and I will try to come up with something.
