ride height adjustment question...

with your kit.. with everything top of the line thrown in, I know you adjust the ride height ahead of time, but is it possible to adjust the ride height afterword when it's installed on the svx or do they need to be removed to be adjusted? If they are able to be adjusted while installed how easy is it to adjust???

You jack the car up so the wheels are off the ground, loosen the lock with an allen key, then twist the collar until you get to the desired level. Lock the screw using the allen key then put the car back on the ground. Repeat for the other side. The wheels do not need to be taken off the car.

For height adjustment the front wheels do not have to be taken off, however to adjust the rear wheels the complete strut/spring assembly must be removed...

That doesn't make sense to me? The rear adjustment collars look exactly like the front, why would you need to take the suspension apart to adjust them?

Yes, now I am just rehashing what I have heard from tom (wawzat), mychailo, and others over the past 3 - 4 years. Mychailo pre-sets both the front and rear, however, setting of the rear and your desired setting is the most important due to the fact that the rears need to be removed for different ride heights. I do not know the technical reasons for removal of the rear, I am just confident to state that they do indeed need to be removed...

Oh, that's the firmness you're thinking of. The fronts are adjustable because you can reach the top mount by opening the hood. For the rears he pre-sets the firmness because the adjustment knob is not accessible without removing the struts.

Oh ok, so I was confused, just so we are all on the same page, for height adjustment with the koni/gc setup we can do this without removing the rear assembly...HOWEVER, when adjusting firmness the rears must be removed?

To my knowledge both firmess and ride height can be done without removing the strut/spring assembly up front.

The last time I had emailed Koni, they said they offer a kit or something of the like that makes it so we don't have to take the assembly out to adjust the firmness. I believe they said it was an extra $90 or so.

would it be possible to install a switch like in late 90's corvettes that allows you to change to firmness from inside???

As far as I know, firmness is usually adjusted with a knob at the top of the strut. If you could put an extension on that knob on the rear struts so it came through the rear shelf you could reach it and adjust to your heart's content. There is a coilover system that has electronically controlled firmness from a controller you can mount inside the car, but it's pricey. Might be Cusco...I can't remember.
