How to OHM test a knock sensor?

So I replaced the knock sensor and the old one looked fine. No cracks or anything. How do you test the ohm's on a knock sensor. There is only one wire in the pigtail.

The internal circuit is between the pigtail terminal and ground, i.e. the body of the sensor. Resistance should measure around 550K ohms.

I would presume that you replaced the sensor as a result of detecting a fault code. This would be registered in the event of an electrical fault. However the device does have a mechanical aspect, therefore there is the very unlikely possibility of a non electrical fault, which a resistance test will not disclose.

I tried using a ohm meter and connected it to the pigtail and to the metal part of the sensor but didn't get any kind of a reading.
