What to offer?
I am curious what everyone thinks would be a good price to offer for a 1992 silver/w black top in good condition inside/out with 176,000 miles on the engine? The owner said that the only things wrong with it are that it is missing the keys and that it has a bad torque converter. I suspect there is more wrong with the transmission than just that though. I believe the car has been sitting for at least a year as well. The seller is asking $1,500, but that seemed a little high to me I was thinking more like $1,000. Any replys would be great. Thanks

Torque converter, isn't that in the transmission itself? Also, no keys = 200+$ for a special locksmith to fix it.

Even with a bad tranny it could worth the 1500. If the interior were nice, and it were pretty clean througout
due to the lack of keys, 1300 would be a perfectly fair offer, seeing as you'll have to have a locksmith come out to make a key before you can even test drive the car. Even if it turned out to have a tranny issue, you'll be glad to know you're not far from par

If you go to a dealership, give them the VIN, and you can get the right key for it. I would agree that a fair price if it is in good shape would be $1300 to $1500. Good luck.

My Vote
I would say the $1000 to $1500 range is close with that many miles depending on overall condition. With the described problems, I agree that a $1000 offer is more than fair. I bought one with fewer miles (105K) in great shape except for front differential for $950 a year ago--also a silver.
