Back on topic, stop making ugly cars. The new Tribeca, minus the B9 which was stupid to begin with, is alot nicer, even if it does look like a Chysler Pacifica. The new motor is better as well.
thanks, dan. unfortunately, we weren't able to make things work and we split about 7 months ago.

as for the tribeca, i took the new svx into the dealership for an oil and filter change and was hoping to see a 2008. they didn't have any yet, but i got a mini-brochure summarizing the changes including the new engine and name. i always considered a 5-passenger base trim level, but they've dropped the two things i really wanted: heated seats and sunroof. i'd hope the price drops, too.

7 months? Have I been away that long? Sorry Ken. The new 3.6 makes more power on regular then the old 3.0 did on premium. One might eventually replace my wife's Forester, but not for awhile.

it's not that you've been away so long, but that i didn't make a huge announcement. in retrospect, i should have ended it a lot sooner.

i almost forgot that regular fuel was another big selling point. it's still only rated to tow 3500 lbs. though.

Actually Outbacks look nice if not great all the time. Regarding Outback, Subaru seems to be trying hard to keep it in upscale rather than trying to mess up with its design. Last time when I was at the dealer, both 2007 and 2008 are side by side in their lot and at first glance at them I can say that 2008 looks more like high class and more solid and the build quality seems to be improved a lot. Same with Legacy I think.

The only model they are messing up a lot is Impreza and B9. Hope they end up with some stable and better design at somepoint .

I'm not talking about enthusiasts, I'm talking about the great majority of people that are buying cars and that make the bottom line.
And - as for the enthusiast buyer, I'll bet that if the product outruns the competition, the styling will not be a consideration. In fact it will magically become "beloved".
i thought civics and mazdas sold because they were cheap and fuel efficient. i'm all for stripping down awd, ditching the boxer, and using cheaper parts for teh new subarus so they could sell as well as civics and mazdas..

or not...

I'd say "or not"

I don't know, you make a good point. I am assuming that there is something in the styling of good-selling vehicles that appeals to the buyer - or rather that Subaru may see it that way. It's too subjective to say for sure.

The new Wrx just looks butt ugly. I saw one on the street and it looked like a Ricer soccer mom sedan. Subaru has lost it, they have virtually no clue. They are letting their asian businessmen who watch hentai all day and drive smartcars make all the design decisions I guess.
