Sad day for Hokies

I am sure you have all heard, over 30 people killed at va tech today in the deadliest school shooting in the USA.

I am a Hokie and still go back to tech whenever I can. I graduated in 2002 so I do not know many people on campus anymore but I took classes in the building where most people died.

What A Sad Day.....

WOW, we have been huddling over the internet (no radio policy at work) My bosses daughter and a few of my friends go there. We are an hour from there. What a shocking thing to have to hear if your kid goes there. I feel so bad for the parents of these kids. I cant imagine sending my child off to get an education and hearing they were shot to death while LEARNING!
If you pray, send up a special one for the parents of these kids tonight.....

That is a real sad. I hope all the injured are alright and the ones that have passed, went in peace. I will make sure I thin of the families and keep them in my thoughts.

Angry

Aside from the sadness & shock of this incident, I'm outraged at "the media" CNN in particular, Paula Zahn in even more particular; in the rush to assign BLAME to someone, or something (campus police), as if this tragedy could have been prevented, "If only ....blah, blah, blah" - speculation upon speculation ad nauseum. Now we can only look forward to the waves of litigation sharks rapidly circling the waters, making sure everyone with the remotest responsibility for "security" is held responsible, & sued "real good".
I have to go puke now.

Ron.

I agree with you Ron! I am so ticked right now. And of course we need to get rid of all guns and pass more LAWs that these insane people will obey!

Agreed. Paula Zahn pisses me off.

I was shocked when I saw this on the news. I am still shocked. And I am still waiting to hear from 2 friends that go to VA Tech. I was surprised that I didn't hear about this until around 5pm. I was at a store and they were watching the news. I had been listening to the radio all day too.

as long as someone sees it.... I heard CNN going balistic blaming the school for being inadequate when there is no way to see or brace for a mass homicide... Sad day and a great example of the poison of media

Check out the colors of my sig, check out the pics in my locker. Those kids that spoke last night held themselves together with a dignity and utter respect that not many people in this world have. Yeah I am a HOKIE.

As a graduate of UVA I'm saddened and disturbed by the events that took place in Blacksburg. What an utter disregard for the lives of 32 wonderful, intelligent and amazing individuals.

One member of this board, Andrew (AmazonParrot), attends Va Tech as a sophmore, and I'm happy to say that he's still with us.

Anyone familiar with UVA, will probably have heard about Beta Bridge which is repainted by student groups on almost a daily basis. This is a picture of Beta Bridge yesterday:

Assuming your not being an ass because it's not at all obvious what a Hokie really is, here's some info:

That's where the name came from but when you ask most people what is a Hokie they will tell you it's a turkey.
