well given a full tank is 65L the ratio would be 10l/100km or 10km/1l but it would obviously be better then that because i didn't run out of petrol and the petrol light came on as i hit Melbourne, cruise control was used with speed varying between 100km/h 110km/h but mostly sitting on 110km/h

you guys would hardly need a steering wheel over there wouldn't you? Just wake up after 2 hours for the left hand turn?

yep, they have fuel lights, it is located in the bar of ignition lights along the bottom of the instrument cluster. Mine goes about a quarter of a tank below the empty line before the light comes on and when that happens i know i've got 20-50km before it's completely empty. i don't think the gauges work that well on most of the cars at the age they are but in normal city driving you should get about 450km per 65l tank

Yeah 450Km to the tank sounds about right. As for the comedy fuel guage our wonderful cars seam to be fitted with....... mine seams to go from a full tank to half in about 100Kms, then back up to 3/4 before sitting on empty for the next 250Kms. Ah thank god for trip meters...
