I have seen Bajas with canopys on them - kinda mystifies me. Suabru already builds a model with them already installed, it's called an "Outback."

Hey demon, I love your concept. The main design problem in my eyes are the back doors. What are your thoughts on dealing with those?

I had what is I think the last American El-Camino type vehicle, the Dodge Rampage. It used the front of a Dodge 024 and thus could utilize a 2-door design naturally (longer doors). Same thing I would do to the Baja if I had a blank sheet of paper - have longer front doors and a sort of storage space inside behind the back seats.

I was thinking a little extended cab area with storage where the rear seats were, replacement bedfloor panels, reinforced subframe, Lifted or lowered stance- its a Subaru looks good both ways The hardest part is the tailgate setup and body flex due to no top. Wish I bought the 1992 subaru Legacy wagon awd for $400 last week that had a bad timing belt and roof damage-this is where I got the idea originally ..........oh well

The Baja has no cargo space! You can't even fit a child's bicycle in the back!!

I've noticed what you mean about the rednecks valuing their trucks like gold. Even a total crap half-ton with high miles and rust fetches a lot out in the sticks. I wanted a 'beater' to haul stuff and off-road with but the cost is prohibitive.

Good luck with you project, there are a couple of these on cardomain if you feel like clicking thru tons of pedestrian cars
