Information
I know this might of been in this forum before but for me i would like to see a place by itself where the one's that do work on the svx or other vehilcles but mainly the SVX and what they do and a location. It is hard to find someone with knowledge to work on these without costing a arm and leg it might be worth a trip to get some work done..you figure people are charging 3 grand to rebuild these trans while i know 1200. would get it done. None are upgrading them when they do a rebuild within a year or sooner we have to do it all over again. The interchange options to put a 4.44 or 4.11. I know a couple are doing it now and I think tom is doing manual swaps, maybe someone else is to..That is just the drive train part let alone the other parts that go out and we just don't have the tools to fix them and the price for dealer is what the price of a new car would be, I think this would help preserve this vehicle from becomeing instinct..The chop block is becoming the thing now because of the cost effect to have it repair. Everyone does not have that knowledge of what can be done to upgrade to keep it going. Everyone has a write up on things they have done but are they willing to do it for others, for instance the hood struts all don't have the tools to do that and a garage would be about 100.00 bucks just labor to do it when thay charge 70.00 bucks hour for labor. The install on the hood would not be all that difficult but the process is what is time comsuming. This is something i thought i would put out and see what others think about it. it be like putting a little back on what you know in your pocket. money could be work out on one on one thing... (Just a thought i had)

Kindness and good manners are also a worthwhile Attribute. Let us hope there has been no hurt.
It has several times been pointed out here, that there will be members who do not have English as their first language. There could also be other mitigating factors. When throwing stones from glass houses caution is in order.

Myself and my much older evil twin(svxfiles) are your saviours(sp?? ) Regardless of your noticable lack of an enter key, I understand what you mean. We can take care of your every need and desire for a much more reasonable price than your local dealer... esp. the ones that ask the Make of the car

Kazaam!
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=48 Yeah, poor section could use updaqting. Perhaps our resident svx mechanics could post their services and perspective rates (I am quite sure each has a thread already. a simple copy paste job will do) Also mabey a few moderators could relocate some of the "Hey, this is a good shop" or "This place sucks" threads to the area mto help keep it active

The guys I trade with probably wouldn't be interested in transmission rebuilds or mods requiring much fabrication, but they've never groused about my cars, and I've never had cause to complain about their work. I doubt they're the cheapest joint around, but suspect a dealership would charge twice as much (if there were a Suby dealership anywhere near here). Find someone who does good work, and stick with 'em. You might be surprised to what extent they'll be willing to help keep your SVX on the road. dcb |
