Hiya Joe,

It was from an email my agent in Japan sent through a while ago.
All information is useless until you need to use it lol

I saw that site a while ago and could not find it again, got it saved to have a good look through now.

Cheers

Darren

You're welcome, man.

James is a straight up real good guy. He put an awful lot of work into putting all this information on line.

There would be lots more up there, but for two things; he has sold his SVX, and he is too busy at work in London to engage with the SVX community at present.

He chimes in from time to time when his name is taken in vain.

Joe

Are those not standard on any model because I have never seen them on anyones car but my own.

I also have them on the wheel wells.

I've never seen this discussed at all.

My 92 JDM car had the door edge protectors. I had to replace them a few weeks ago because one became split at the top edge and tended to catch on clothing. The replacement is a chrome finish, plastic after market item.

Nik, I never noticed that before, nor have I ever seen a car that had this option.

They do exist obviously, since Trevor's car had the door trims. I suppose over the years I have seen in the flesh and in pictures maybe 200 JDM cars or more, but never noticed door protectors or arch protectors.

BTW, if you look at the 7 listing in the catalogue, there are 2 Yen prices listed, Y8400 and Y8100. I'm speculating one price is for the door trim, and one price for the arch trims.

You could well have the only car with both!! Send Paddles a PM, ask him if many cars in Japan have them. He might have an idea.

Is your car JDM? You mention it is an export from Georgia. US or Russia?

Joe

Georgia here in the States.

I think perhaps the original owner liked this car very much, but any history before my purchase is a complete mystery.

Cool!

Looks nice!

One thing I do admit with SVXs. As they get older, the lip of the driver's door in particular shows paint chips and marks and slight bends from hitting other cars and garage walls, I suppose, with the doors being so big and wide.

Plastic protectors like those would be very handy.

Joe, as I mentioned earlier, I replaced mine with a product from an auto accessory shop. It is intended for the exact problem you describe and is a plastic U shaped strip with internal adhesive and is sold by length. Is it not available up your way?

Ron, I'm sure it was "beaten-to-death" and I hesitated to bring it up again, but GM's use of rws on its light-duty pickup trucks and Lexus' use of rws on its "parks itself" LS450 has given me pause to wonder how an active rws system works. Seems to me that only low-speed use of such a system is practical because of all the position sensors and instant reaction mechanical gizmos that would be necessary for high-speed use. Passive, on the other hand, makes more sense to me for everyday driving, although I'm on the skeptical side when it comes to altering a car's "normal" steering response, especially at high speed. OK Aredubjay, send me something offline so we can trash this thread.

I'm just now finding this thread and can't help but laugh. The horse is dead! Long live the horse!

Nice to "see" you, Preston. I think of you when I visit my stepson and daughter in Dallas. Next time, maybe I can take a few extra days and look you up.

Take good care, my friend.

It's just like him Randy, isn't it?

He breezes in from Yahoo!, and stirs up all this ancient dust, long settled.
