Well Bill, the weather cleared up. The course has some wet spots for the first couple groups but by the afternoon it dried up.

Kevin is officially faster than I. Which proves that in AutoX its all about the driver. I stuck around and did 3 "fun runs" and managed to get a 73.5 which would just tie Kevin's top time of the day.

Some Photos...Paul Chan Pictures

My buddy only stuck around for the first 2 groups then left so there aren't any shots of Kevin on the page. But I think his GF shot some.

It was a good day, fun course. Autocrossing really brings out the best in my transmission, it sends all the power to one front tire . My day was cut short, however due to a screw in the tire.

Official results are here: SD SCCA

Apparently Kerry was driving that new model subaru that everyone is talking about...

Isn't a Dodge Dakota a pickup truck??? (if the results are correct, Kerry has a lot of explaining to do )

Well Bill, the long and short of it is I still need to learn how to drive my car. Trust me, I've been pretty bummed the last couple days. But I'll be back in the seat Dec 3rd for a practice.

IS is a step between Stock and Street Prepared. As for SU I think its an anything goes street legal class.

I thought street unlimited was STU, which has been run at the local level for at least the last year - but still hasn't been formally approved at the national level.
-Bill
p.s. I think this was what Kerry saw in front of him

p.p.s Kerry - if it helps any, I only beat a tricked out Dodge Magnum by 2 seconds in the final event at FedEx (think his rims/tires cost more than my entire car!)

Yeah, it was a truck. The Camaro that usually beats up on us in that class was running X.

STU out here atleast is Street Touring Ulimited and is composed of STis and Evos. SU has a Ferrari 360 and a couple heavily modded Rabbits and other smaller cars.

You can't be bumbed out by what cars beat you. Be happy that you improved your times as the day went on. That is the only benchmark I care about. I just need to keep practicing. I don't think there is any car out there that couldn't beat me on a track, with the right driver.

Yeah, after talking to Tom last night and getting some advice, I feel better. Just need more seat time, calm down, and use my flipping brakes.

Kerry,
Yeah, just keep getting more seat time I'd seriously recommend taking a autoX class if the local SCCA offers one. I'd also suggest having one of the SCCA instructors drive your car for a run or two to give you some pointers on how to better set the car up (i.e. tighten/soften the front Konis, add/reduce tire pressures, etc.). What alignment set up are you using? If you don't have at least -1.5 degrees of camber at each corner you need to get yourself to a good alignment shop ASAP.
-Bill
p.s. look ahead, look ahead, look ahead!

Acctually Bill, I just got an alignment done before this event. I'll have to go back and see where they put the wheels at.

I was looking at some of the tools some companies offer to measure the camber/caster angle.

I agree with you about having someone else take a lap or two in my car. The only problem is a lot of my friends are afraid to drive it because they don't want to be the guy to break the car. But there is a local guy I was refered to on SoCalEuro that does tons of track days and such. Gonna ask if he's mind doing some instruction.

So far I've been told, look ahead, gas gas gas, and less slow more fast.
