damn shifter!!

This is getting very irritating and embarassing. Everytime I start my car, and go to shift it into reverse or drive, it won't budge out of park, or it will shift like normal. When it does stick, I have to shake it like crazy, then it will slide into the gear.

Recently, i thought the shift lock had something to do with it, so i pressed and held it, and it shifts like no problem, is their anything i can do to not have to press the shift lock button everytime?

I think your shift interlock mechanism is broke.

Replace your shift lock module, it's located under the center console.

Same problem years back,I went into the center console and unplugged the shift lock, downside is that the shifter will move with the ignition off.

can you elaborate more on that please? Is it in the owners manual, or chiltons book? or even a how-to write up?

The shift lock module is the module that makes sure that the key is in the ignition and the brake is on to move the car out of park. It's an electronic bit with two sensors attached to it. The module goes bad after time (it's mechanical, so....).

Try to find one either on here or on Ebay, I got mine on ebay for $15 and it takes 5 minutes to install. Unplug the old one and plug in the new one. Easy as that.

I'm guessing that it has to be for a SVX, this isnt a universal part. Does anyone have one for sale?

not saying you need to do the 5mt swap, just unplug it and all will work as normal except you can now shift from park when the key is not in the ignition or when you foot is on the brake. It is simple

Just the center console trim piece I'm pretty sure. Someone will post a pic soon. If not I will tomorrow and point out what needs to go.

No just remove the center console if your are having issues getting the car in gear or until you buy another part.I never replaced the part, just unplugged it one less part to break.
