Thumbs up

Now that the MAF problem has been solved, there's absolutely nothing wrong mechanically, or cosmetically with my '92 that a few new dash light bulbs, & cam seals wouldn't cure. Keeping it garaged, & driving it sparingly only on weekends hasn't hurt the situation.

Ron (no taillight dew-drops either).

Hmmm.. my list goes as follows-

-Rattling noise from underneath at idling (Have to figure out if it is exhaust or driveline)
-Rusted exhaust (midpipe), lost exhaust seal bearing and clamp b/n midpipe and mufler
-Body work (front bumper, hood, passenger side rear quarter panel)
-Driver's side valve cover leak
-ATF guage working in reverse
-P/S randomly becomes tight to rotate while the front speed sensor is connected
-Vibrations at speeds above 65mph
Thats all for now...

-Pavan

My '92 Claret:

-The WORST problem is extremely poor quality repaint in some weird 'cinnamon nail polish' color over the original Claret that's now chipping off everywhere you look, especially the bumper covers.
-Power door locks don't always cycle all the way and occasionally leave you locked OUT or IN(!!!)
-Key doesn't work in the trunk lock (I should probably fix that right away in case I have to go in through the trunk)
-Stereo doesn't always switch to 'nighttime illumination' when you turn the headlights on (a gentle rap on the center console fixes this)
-Rust on the front edge of the hood (fixed)
-Dent and rust in the rear panel below the D/S taillight (fixed)
-Occasional mild 2-3 shift flare
-Remote key fob doesn't work, even with new batteries
-Cooling fans run all of the time when the car is on
-Trunk seal leaks
-Condensation in one P/S taillight
-Passenger side visor droops (but not the driver's side!)
-Fuel gauge inaccurate (that's original!)
-A few chips in the windshield
-D/S window auto-down button doesn't work
-various switch bulbs out
-headlights fogging

My '92 Pearl:

-Thumps/rattles from the front end when going over bumps
-Runs slightly rough when cold
-Condensation in taillights
-Trunk doesn't 'pop' when you pull the release
-Gas filler door doesn't 'pop' when you pull the release
-Hood struts shot
-Possible power steering leak (I changed the o-ring)
-A/C needs recharge and maybe o-rings
-inaccurate gas gauge
-no key fob remote
-Possible warped rotors (slight)
-various switch bulbs out
-Front bumper cover and hood could use repainting
-engine cover broken (have a replacement)
-wheels need repainting

That's about all. I still love driving both of them, but will probably have to sell one this year. I'm leaning toward keeping the claret since it has lower miles (105k) than the pearl (163k)

my woes

wow, the problems with my car. hmmmmm...(starts to look over the laundry list).
-the front struts are blown (koni)
-power steering pump is dead
-brake lights don't work
-horn doesn't work
-exhaust leak, not too bad but annoying nonetheless
-headlights are way out of alignment
-big dent in rear 1/4 panel on passenger side
-car stumbles all over itself under acceleration
-sounds like a bad valve lifter
-there is a definate need for a paint job
-and i'm sure that there are various other electrical problems that i haven't noticed yet

Napa,
Where do you live? I can't remember the last time I saw a real cow and you had one SIT on your SVX?
Were you trying to tip the cow over?
There's an interesting story here Napa. So tell us,
WGJ

First off, the cows arn't allowed in the field, they also arn't that bright, they don't care about the fence, when they eat all the grass in their field they come through the fence and try to sleep in the pole barn that the SVX is stored in staying out of the sun, and doing heavy damage to both the barn and the cars however I do believe when the new neighbor spends half a mil on paving and a new bridge (without a cattle gaurd).

I smile every time I have steak for dinner ! All will be better soon, end of the month I will move the new matresses out of the garage under the hose, and the SVX goes in

LF wheel bearing - have part but been too busy to put it in yet.

sheesh - that's it for now except for the peeling paint on the rear bumper but all those wounds are from a PO with a poor paint job. My 92 is in it's prime at 223k.

Oh yeah - rear defroster only works on the top line - but also from previous owner who must have used a razor blade to scrape off the crappy tint job he did. Been like that since I bought it and never bothered to fix it.

I love my svx.

I've got a good one....Car is at the dealer today because I want my binding issue solved and my tranny flushed.
Here's what they tell me:
1) Rear control arms are shot
2) Need new transmission pan and gasket - leaking
3) Sway bar bushings and links need replaced
4) Right front wheel bearing may need replacing
5) Right front ball joint loose - needs replacing
6) Rear strut mounts are in need of replacing $$$$
They notice an engine leak too...so they will degrease my engine to see what else I can donate an arm or leg for.

And some other things I know I have to replace....front pads/rotors, airbag doesn't work, cosmetic stuff too.

Are You Going To Have To Bring ...

your first born to apply to the bill? You have my sympathy...I know how much I've spent on mine of late. These are NOT CHEAP cars to maintain. That's why I deeply appreciate the how-to-do and do-it-yourelf info. Saved me a ton of money...

Hmmm....Just got home and my cars now making an intresting tapping noise. Noticed it doesnt have any oil in it.....thats not a good thing. I need to figure out if theres a slow leak or if something exploded, but thatll have to wait for my next day off (Labor day if Im lucky)
Besides that theres my set of clicky 99% sure theyll explode tomorrow cv joints, and my getting bigger exhaust leak. Pulled engine codes and came up with left knock and left 02 sensors as well. Thats all the mechanical junk, I dont even care about the half an interior anymore, or the desire (But not completely nesicary) repaint.

Yeah, I wouldn't wait till Labor day to add more oil to the car...lol

What sucks is there are no small shops that work on SVX's here in Northeast Ohio....Just the dealerships, and I don't have the equipment or the experience to do some of the repair work.... Dang!!
