Idea for Reading 8

I have a crazy idea for reading 8. I was thinking of a car raffle. Since there are so many members on here that can do work on the SVX like trans swaps and engine pulls, even rear wheel bearings, why don't we restore an SVX. The problem is getting the funding for it. I mean find an svx ready to take a dive down the deep end and bring it back to life. Then raffle it off at Reading 8. This would dramatically increase attendance and enthusiasm as people would definately want to win this car. Just an idea, the fundraising will be the tough part but I think it is worth the thought. Def. not enough time this year but we can always plan for next!!!

Tom,
Great Idea! How about the "excess" $$ that the raffle brings in over what it actually cost to restore the car going to a charity that everyone agrees upon?

I think the network cause would be the best place for anything like to go.

Im with mime there. If we do this, its like saving an svx every year. Also, thje raffle would be a good chance for friends & family members of SVX owners to have a shot at owning their own
As far as the restoration, I would say that it would be best to restore it to stock spec, rather than investing in mods too. Probly be cheapest, plus then you dont end up raffling off an svx nobody wants

I already know where the perfect car is to fix up and raffle. The only reason it isn't sitting here right now is because the bum wants 1400 for it with blown tranny, four flat tires, and a crappy gold/white two tone paint job where they even painted the exhaust tips But on the good side, It only has 102K miles on it, But on the bad side, It's had that mileage for over 3 years now.

Well don't forget this is going to be non-profit so the car needs to be awfully cheap. We also need to find start up capitol.(Damn econ classes actually working ) So in short, this will be no small undertaking. I was actually thinking of using my teal as a first year thing because it runs, just needs a new trans and front fenders. So we will see how it goes. if anyone is willing to donate a car or parts.... feel free to contact me
