Anyone ever used Falken Azenis rt-615 tires?

Looking for a good summer tire to use on the autoX circuit on the weekend, as well as on the street for the Spring, Summer and Fall. Heard good reviews about the Azenis rt-615 tire and I was wondering if any member here uses a set on their SVX or Subaru?

Thanks!

-Chike

Chike,
They're great tires, unfortunately they are extremely limited in widths for a 16" rim (much better for 17" rims!). This is the only reason I'm not running them as a street tire (i.e. I'd love to run them with my "street" set of RX-7 rims)

urrgh.... I'm gonna have to double check exactly which ones we got last time, but they were Falken and I hated them. Very loud and I swore I'd never get these Falken again. We'll be getting new tires for this summer, but I haven't gotten down to Switzerland yet this year so don't know what my Swiss SVX Meister will recommend. (It was the German guy who recommended these ones ) We'll probably take our time buying and putting them on, since the mountain passes get snow into late April and even May.

When we do get the new summer tires, or as soon as I know which ones, I'll post the info. Probably be too late for you, but might be interesting as future reference to somebody else. (along with any recommendation or don't bother advice )

Thanks Bill. These are going to be mounted on my stock 17x7 stock WRX wheels... I'll probably go with a 225/45/17 size even though I've already seen 245/45/17 tires mounted on these wheels!!!

Thanks Bipa. I don't mind a little bit of road noise here and there as a trade-off for dry grip.

These are Azenis RT-615's mounted on an '06 STI:

Hey Chike,

Isn't the RT-615 a brand new tire? If so, I'm thinking that Bipa is thinking of a different tire.

Mychailo,
Yep, it's a fairly new tire. The wear rating is 200, which allows it to me used in the SM class for SCCA. I keep hoping they'll come out with the 245/45 for a 16 inch rim...

I think you guys are right. The RT-615 is a relatively new tire that replaces the ST-115.

RT-615

ST-115

Bill, If you run SM, aren't you allowed to run 17" wheels?

Here's a pic of my WRX during autoX action from last weekend. I ended up finishing 5th that weekend and 3rd the weekend before. Knock another 2-3 seconds off of my time for r-compounds (depending on length of the course) and I'll be up there in the mix.

From the tread pics, I can tell ya without checking that we had the older ones. Very distinctive pattern and quite different from the one you're talking about Chiketkd. Sorry about that. At least now I know the difference so if I'm told to get Falken again this time, I won't get upset.

Actually the 615 replaced the RT-215

http://www.vulcantires.com/azenis_t.htm

I know the RT-215 had some problems with heat build up, usually only with more than one driver, or on extremely hot days. But I heard that was fixed on the 615's.

Thanks Ben & Dave! You're right. The RT-615 does replace the RT-215. Price for the 215's are also much less. I think I'll give the RT-215's a try first - my wife and my wallet will love me for it!

-Chike

P.S. I know some places still still discontinued tire models. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a set.
