What are you doing to those poor batteries?

I have two red tops (I bought the first one when they came out in the late 80's for $600) 6 years into the original battery, I let it drain down and sit and it died. They gave me a free replacement (The old warranties used to be 7 years no proration). I still use that replacement today so its been running strong for 11 years. I bought another for the second SVX about 3 years ago and it is doing well. I will buy more as the stock batteries die on my other cars.

The most important thing with Optimas (Seems more so than wet cell batteries) is that they do not like to sit even partially drained. If you have too many cars (hint, Earl) and don't drive them but leave the alarms on, you need a battery tender to keep it at full charge. You can pick them up on sale for around $10.

Cheapest one I found was at Wal Fart for the race car. Seems to be holding up decent as it gets thrashed pretty good. Only died once from letting the fans go while the car was off to cool down. It has probably had 500 starts over 200 miles. For $39.99 it can't be beaten plus it has a 24 hour warranty in most areas as its hard not to find a Wal Fart around ya. You just need to duck the bullets as you go in.

I've had great service out of WalMart Everstarts, with both the SVX and the Outback. Have the Maxx in the SVX.
I do use a battery tender though, since it sits so much.

Thumbs up

Just got an Everstart Maxx from Wally World last night.

$58.87, but not for 875cca like I originally thought, it's actually 1000cca!
