Well somebody else started the bidding and I don't have the money to keep up with him for sure. Oh well good to get a quick fantasy smashed.

Actually I still fancy the 86-89 Acura Integra(Honda Accord) or the newer one from 94-01? Might have to start looking because its a big fight for any of the subes.

The bidding is still at $500!!! You never know what his max is. He could just have tossed in a low-ball bid for the fun of it!

I wouldn't give up the dream at this point. Go through your couch, cash-in your bottle of change and raise him $50!

I wouldn't get in a bidding war this early in the game.

Get a 944 instead of a 914. The 914 is super light and cheap to get, but the 50/50 balance of the 944 is supurb for auto-x. The place I took the 928 out from {see life is complete thread}, has two red over black 944s and 2 924s, a yellow 79 and a silver 84(?) S. He also has 2 911s. The one 944 I looked at looked solid but I didn't start it. Only $5500.

thats actually what I've started looking at anyways also. But the difference is that I'm looking for a beater around 500-750 to play with.

Yeah, I wouldn't go with a 944 unless you had a good 8k to spend on a good one. Most under that weren't well cared for and of course it is a porshe so partn't are cheap.

As for a 914 you can find them in the sub $1000 range. I say get one with a good body and bad tranny and make yourself a 916 with a Xt6 engine. They are cheap enough, reliable enough and the adaption is fairly straight forward. Plus you'll have plenty of power w/o creating issues of too much power for the rest of the car to take.
