Tranny & Stereo

Well, I give up my SVX tomorrow to the tranny fixers. Pray for me and my car that this goes well. I should have it back by Friday. I can't wait to see what rental I'm gonna get. "Hey mister, whatchya got cheap?"

While contemplating where all that money is coming from I saw my "Check Engine" light come on. It was while I was accelerating from a stop. (I shift manually right now until the tranny is repaired) After about 5 - 10 agonizing minutes it went off again. Once home I shut the car off and turned it back to "on" and the "Check Engine" light lit telling me that it hadn't burned out.

I guess it new I was about to have all the "major" fixes done. DAMN!!

Wish me luck. I'll need it!

Wink

I always thought the check engine light should be replaced with a series of little dollar signs, say one through five. One - "I detect a slight mis-firing plug," to Five - "It's time to push car into lake".
Anyway - good luck.

I know where you're coming from, bubba. Hopefully, I'll have good news tomorrow, after 7 agonizing days. Best of luck.

CE light

(FYI--I can't find the quote box, but it is regarding CE light)

Aredubjay, I went through a CE light nightmare a few months ago. It was an intermittint thing just like it sounds you have. First time I took it to dealer, he said it was EGR sensor.

$300 later I had the sensor replaced, drove home, and the CE light came on. Went back to dealer.......

3 hours of inspection later, the mechanic explains to me that the EGR (i am pretty sure it was EGR, but i am no mechanic) valve itself was not working. They tried to explain that since I already paid for the sensor, they would kindly pay for the valve and I would only have to pay for the labor....about 1/2 day at $80/hr.

I kindly explained that they could go f**k themselves and they agreed to replace the valve at no additional charge.

By the way, they said this was the first time they had seen this problem (I have already heard "first time" way too much since I bought my SVX). They first suspected the O2 sensor, which is actually what most people on this site suspected when I posted the question.

Hope I just posted my first "useful" reply. If not, I will keep trying

Good luck with the tranny too!!
