Wanna see something scary?

A word of advice, don't ignore that little rust spot too long. Threw in that last image to calm the easily excited.

Thank you to Subaru for not sealing the frame folds like they should have.

*slaps his '91 Legacy for rusting in the exact same spot on the opposite side*

Btw, why no bondo? You could have contoured that stuff to the smooth lines of your SVX.

Bondo will go over that as it will not fill holes specially that large

It was done by a friend in a driveway, not by a shop. The last shot was taken during the middle of the process, the finished product was very smooth and followed the original lines exactly. The only problem was that the paint didn't match perfectly, but I knew that was going to happen going in. I just had to get something done before it got any worse.

What did you do with the rust hole in the wheelwell? Did you weld in new metal in there as well?

That is a really tricky spot to get cleaned up. I've often wondered how I could prevent rust in that area, but so far, every idea I come up with is a major project.

My belief is that moisture runs down there from the top of the wheelwell and has nowhere to drain. Condensation from the clash of the climate controlled interior and the outside air from on the area above the wheelwell.

I'm seriously thinking about putting in a vent in the door jamb like the J-Body GM's had in the 80's so that outside air will be introduced through the door jamb and into the trunk to keep the area from condensing.

I think it's becuase mud gets back there from the tire shooting it up and there is nothing to get it out like rainwater. You can't even pressure wash it. I'd like to tell everyone out there to pull back their inner fender and dig out all of the dried up mud packed in there, you'll be amazed at how much is in there. Some undercoat proably wouldn't hurt either.

When there was or I should say is a small rust spot on the passenger door I just put some touch up paint over it and then sanded it down, as well as using rubbing compound. Do you think that would actually seal the rust spot or just cover it up and it would start spreading later, it didn't look like the paint bubble got any larger?

If it is under the plactic part I'd take the door panel off and remove the plactic moulding and see how far the rust goes. You have to remove all rust then use your touch-up paint. If you just go over the rust it will spread. Here is what I found under my moulding
