Need to know soon! '05 2.5RS tranny, will it work?

I have an opportunity to buy a 5spd tranny from a 2005 2.5RS. If I can't do it tomorrow the guy will be leaving my area and taking the tranny with him. Will this tranny fit?

Yes. If you can, get the clutch, flywheel, clutch master cylinder, and pedals too.

The 2005 2.5 RS has a final drive axle ratio of 4.11 (same as my 2002 rs tranny). The SVX/WRX use 3.90, so if you got a WRX tranny, you could use the stock SVX diff. The rear diff has to match up to the tranny your going to use so you need to get the RS and swap the internals to the SVX diff case.

Cheers,
John

While it's true you can use the WRX tranny with the stock SVX rear diff to be accurate the WRX/SVX both have a 3.545 rear diff. The WRX front diff is 3.90 and the AWD in that tranny has a 1.1:1 ratio to make everything work.

The WRX tranny is the best choice for high speed cruising.

So I'm under the impression that you can use the stock rear diff

I'm pretty sure it's still 4.11, make sure your not looking at the rex. Post your question on NASIOC

I have a spare 4.11 rear diff if you end up needing it

The WRX doesn't have a .78 5th gear. It has .738 instead.

This isn't a WRX tranny! It's a 2.5 RS tranny and I'm under the impression that there are differences.
