Thumbs up My weekend is booked.

And if it comes together as I'm planning I can be officially labeled as hooked on racing.

My 3rd auto-x will be Saturday, my first legal drag race will be Sunday.

I have a sticker to slap on one of my windows to represent my "crew".

Elation.

Place your bets now.

Following the trend of my not being able to grap traction with hard accelleration I expect to run a 15.5 or 15.6.
With it maybe a 15.1. Ofcourse that's just wishful thinking isn't it.

We'll finally know very soon.

Here's the sticker, coined and designed by none other than myself.

Farther away for size comparison.

Here's the old logo and name I came up with over a year ago that everyone liked then but suddenly hated recently.

Here's an aerial pic of my car, because it rocks so much.

Auto-x complete. While I did reasonably well, I'm not going to go to any future events until I can get my suspension upgraded. As it is the SVX is not competitive with stock struts.

Pics and results later.

An ae86 should fair pretty well.

Results for the first group. Nothing spectacular.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26047.jpg

Second group. Best time of day is circled. At the far left you can see "Ins". Driver was a veteran instructor.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26046.jpg

Third group. My number is cirlced, 210.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26045.jpg

First run I missed a cone, but popped it in reverse and got back on track to finish. Just trying to learn the layout.
Second run I ran a little faster. Got a respectable time.
Third run I drove a little more aggressively.
Final run I pushed it to the limit, but nailed the very last cone. Thinking I was off course I just kinda coasted to the finish. I'm sure I could have broke 29 seconds on that run had I not screwed up at that point. I think what I did was hit the throttle a little too hard so when I cranked for a left I ust kinda kept going straight, and when I realized I was goint to smack a cone I mashed the brakes and just plowed it over. :/

I ran so hard the last run coolant leaked from one of the smaller upper radiator to resevoir hoses all over where my battery sits.
Looking at it I just kinda felt sorry for it so I don't know if I want to play anymore.

More pics later.

Anyone who wants to see my 30.xxx run IM me and I'll send it, or maybe someone can volunteer to host it. 2.71M avi.

Forgot to mention we didn't even get started til about 12:15, over an hour late. They're using this new timing system with neat little barcodes that noone could figure out.

Well Id say that I ran pretty well considering that it was my first time out... Jason the owner/other driver was about 10 secs faster than me I ran a 68.9 at fastest and a modded STI was the groups fastest at something like 49.2ish you should be able to find the exact results here http://www.stlrallyx.org/results.html in a couple of days

I was about 10 seconds behind everyone in my first dry auto-x, too.

Alright, TIMESLIPS.

This event was very humbling and confusing for me.

About 70 degrees, a few hundred feet above sea level.

First run, no opponent. Best of day for me. Kept it in D. Spun the waterbox.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26106.jpg
Second run. Kept it in 3. Spun the box.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26107.jpg
Third run. Kept it in 2. Box.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26108.jpg
Fourth run. Spun tire, no box. Kept it in 1, until I started slowing down and it downshifted kinda hard. :/
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26109.jpg
Fifth run. Kept it in D. Spun tire, no box.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26110.jpg
Final run. 2 and a half hours after the 5th run. Engine is cold. I kept it in D and avoided the waterbox, and idled to the stage. Worst time.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26111.jpg

I had the opportunity for about 20 runs, but I could only imagine the havoc I was wreaking on the engine. I checked it over after every run but 4, which was back to back with 5. No extra leaks or weord noises.

Considering the future upgrades I have in mind my quarter will probably never meet 14s, which is very sad, and I give up drag racing.

2000th post.

While I was waiting in line for tech some guys walked by and I heard them say, "Wow, I haven't seen one of these in a long time."
I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about the Civic behind me (rice everywhere).

My crew sticker. I put the ECUTune sticker next to it.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26113.jpg

Fastest run of the day, not counting an HRA dragster doing 8s.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./26112.avi

I've got on video:
57 Chevy pickup vs large Ford Deisel that does 14s.
That blue Camaro beast vs a Nova
Camaro SS vs STi
blue Camaro vs an Dakota o_0?
old rusty Camaro vs some black import
Civic vs Civic
some guy on a bike doing a wheelie down the track
same guy doing a wheelie while sitting on the handlebars...
Civic hatch vs an Integra
older Integra vs what I think is a 7 cyl Lincoln
old Integra vs a fast truck that failed to launch
Plymouth Laser (12s) vs Integra Type-R
Same Laser and Integra, grudge match.
The Laser vs Lightning
Nova vs some really slow car
RSX vs Crown Vic
RSX vs Toyota Echo, with crazy blue flames and blue rims xP *gag*
Mustang vs what I think is an RS
2001 Vette vs S2000
Wrangler vs a very old Civic hatch
Shiny Z28 with chrome wheels vs a Celica

Cars slower than mine: Crown Vic, 7 cyl thing, Echo, a few Acuras and Hondas, that one slow busted car. The Probe and an Altima made a few runs slower than me, but also some faster ones.

Interesting facts of the day: the announcer guy kept calling my car a 92 WRX, even though I wrote on the tech slip all it's info.
There's a sunburn on my face.

NikFu,

For your first time drag racing, a 15.62 @ 88.5 mph is quite good on stock 3.55 gears! Great job!

;DDDDD

When I rolled up to the stage, the guy was like "roll your winder up!" and I was like "Wait I'm a nub at this I don't know what to do!"

It was kinda funny.

Official auto-x results: http://www.alaskascca.com/

edit: Fuel: half tank of 90 Oc.

Highlight of the day: That blue Camaro went so fast it's hood flew off and almost ran a civic hatch off the track.

Something interesting: next weekend there will be two jet powered cars at the track. A Civic (...) and a somehting else I can't remember that isn't a Civic.
Apparently the engines come from F-14s and push the cars over 280mph.
