Bottom line the guy was inexperienced and trying to show off, and the cruise control thing was not an issue - he did not have the cruise on.

re92's are clearly at fault.

i'm convinced that hooked up scoops would have provided the necessary drag to slow him enough to avoid disaster.

Lucky for him that it was one of those cardboard houses. Around here they are a little more solid.

Full Boost at 12MPH

This is a quote from his original accident:

"yesterday in woodbridge i slipped on some water at about 12 MPH when my turbo decided to engage on some slick water spot before i shifted into 2nd... I was only going about 12 MPH and needless to say im VERY PISSED..."

If anyone should be pissed, it should be us non-idiot drivers that have to pay increased insurance premiums to cover this assclown's lack of ability and judgement. I drove a 2002 WRX for 13 months. Full boost occurs at approximately 3000 RPM. The only way his WRX turbo 'suddenly engaged' at 12 MPH was for this guy to have installed the super secret VF-XX turbocharger than defies the laws of physics and spools up at 1500 RPM. In any event, Subaru AWD traction aside, for WRX's sudden, powerful, tear inducing acceleration to catch anyone off-guard indicates that they should be driving a 1980's VW rabbit diesel (0-60 in 30+ seconds).

Insurance companies should force guys like this to drive around with a giant sticker taped to the truck lid with the word IDIOT printed on it to warn the rest of us to give them plenty of space.

Talking Stuck Throttles

takes me back to when I was in high school and me and my brother used to ride to school together in his 1972 chevelle 350
4 BARREL CARBURATOR.Well he thought it was cool to drive around with no top cover on his breather. As the story goes we were on our way to school and we were running late so were passing cars blah blah 4 BARREL humming all the while and he opens it up again and it keeps going after he lets out and we start freakin like how to stop; well he was smart enough to kill the motor via ignition and we get out to investigate the situation and low and behold whats holding the carb open, a F*&^ing RAT?!! we were like wtf!!! How it get in there? Well where we lived we had rats up in everthing including nice warm motors and the such To say the least my bro didnt drive around without the top of his breather again

Apparently the kid had modded the car a bit. It probably only took 5-6 seconds to go from 30 to 80. H*ll, it only takes me about 9 seconds to go from 0-80 in my SVX.
