Radiators

Has anyone had experience with aftermarket radiators for the SVX?

I've been hunting for one for a while, with no luck, until tonight, when I came across radiator.com and they had one listed for the SVX for $241USD.

I've been told by all the radiator shops that no such animal exists. I just want to avoid ordering the part, only to find out that it won't fit properly.

Tim Oliver (who's parting out his SVX) suggested using a radiator off a Celica, which he was able to fit it with some work.

Give it a try on their dime

Purchase it with the stipulation that if it doesn't fit it will be returned AT THEIR COST. If it works, you have found a new less expensive source for us all. If not, no charge to you.

Chuck (cdigerlando) was having an all aluminum, high-performance, extra-core radiator made for his car. He was also leaving them the stock unit so they could also make a stock replacement. Probably more expensive than the stock unit, but may be worth looking into.

vkykam, why don't you go to the subaru dealer at canada or come or order one from usa?

how much for the all aluminum, high performance radiator? where to get one? how does it work? it might be a good replacement, if you need one. you know svx has more "heat".....wondering how does it work so far, chuck(cdigerlando)?

1. Nope, haven't found anything other than the stock Calsonic
2. That was Griffon for the aftermarket radiator and...
3. The person who said that was the *other* Chuck...

I know "Blondeman" and others had spoken of having an aluminum radiator custom fabbed for their SVXes, but never heard of any progress. I like "wawa's" idea of giving it a try on their dime. Sounds reasonable to me. As for the Celica rad, I think Tim needs to write a "how to" for inclusion into the "how to" locker.

Well, radiator.com looked it up, it was ALL a mistake.

They quoted a "LIST" price of $7XX, "THEIR" price of $4XX, and promised to remove the SVX rad off their web site, since it's a "DEALER ONLY" item. Sigh...

Wawazat: The Canadian dealers here want $6XX CDN ($4XXUSD). I just don't feel like being screwed over.

I ended up ordering one from a Niagara Falls area Subaru Dealer, they went down to $330 for me, and since I'm driving down tomorrow to the area anyways, I'll just pick it up.
