Not so Good News

Well, we finally got the results back from my bone marrow biopsy on Friday-

It was 'good' news, but not 'great' news. The leukemia cells are down from 80% to 70%, so we've made some progress, but not huge. They're going to 'hit' it again with the same 2 week chemo regimen again, but they're going to put some 'octane booster' in one of the doses to try and (as Emeril would say) 'kick it up a notch'. It seems my leukemia cells are as resilient and tough as I've been, so we're trying to be a little more agressive. Looks like we've on the right track, but it's going to take longer than first hoped for.

Hi Mark, A little bit at a time. You didn't get this overnight so your not going to get rid of it over night. Its not to rewarding to be fighting something you can't see, but you just have to keep a GOOD atitude so as to not give the leukemia any kind of an edge. Before it was discovered it had a free ride. Now its a different story. it is what it is and can't change over night as you and your Dr. can change your treatment. Take care. You know everyone is pulling for you. BOBB

That's great that you have a computer in your room; check out ebaumsworld.com if you don't allready know about the site. Some of the things on there are so funny and sometimes all anyone needs are a few good laughs.

And hey, at least your'e keeping the miles low on your SVX!

I just spoke with Mark's wife. Apparently, Mark's still a bit weak and was unavailable to speak, himself, BUT, Mrs. Tente tells me that the Bone Marrow Transplant was a success and that he will be entering rehab soon. Her exact words were, "He's stubborn." I told her that all of us SVXers are. Otherwise, we'd not keep these stupid SVXes. She laughed and said, "you got that right." I let her know that the SVX community was praying for Mark. She is very appreciative of our prayers and wants us to keep it up. Let's pray for a quick rehabilitation for Mark and that he's able to take a nice long drive very soon. Thanks to all who've offered prayers and kind thoughts. Mark's a long time and valued member of the SVX community.

When I spoke with Mrs. Tente, I told her that, since we'd not heard from Mark in some time, that I was aprehensive about the news I'd get, once I contacted her. She understood. At the end of our conversation, she told me to keep in touch. That was cool, since she didn't know me from Adam. I told her that I definitely would. I'll be contacting her via e-mail and will get an address for sending cards and letters of encouragement. I'll post it as soon as I can.
