SVX engine in a Impreza Sport

Well in case anyone was wondering. The SVX engine does fit into the bay of an Impreza. I saw one yesterday. There is about an inch of room before the rad support. Now I'm not sure what he's planning to do for the cooling but it does fit. The hood doesn't quite close though either.

Better put in solid motor mounts unless you want it banging against the fenders...

ET

If thats a 95 or 96 Outback Sport, with an automatic it weighs about 2810 lbs, add 100 lb for the big motor, and 160 for a light driver and you have a 13.67 et car going 99.1 mph. Man, what a sleeper!

I seem to remember an old thread that mentioned that Cobb Engineering had done a few of these swaps for some rich folks over in Europe so they could race on the Autobahn...

It isn't mine. Wouldn't want it. Be there done the Impreza thing. I'm no longer young enough to rice around and of course I was 7 years too early for any aftermarket support. It is sitting at a dealer in Lanc County where Greenless1995SVX apparently broke a windshield on a parts SVX getting something out . I don't think M. Shaeffer is too happy with ya.

Anders8 (NASIOC) has an Impreza L with a 3.0 outback engine in it... It is his rally car. If some of you go to and local rally events (near NC) you'll see it. It is light green. He lives in Raleigh, NC... Ya may see it getting flatbedded around town sometimes

Yeah, I remember seeing that. I guess he isn't planning to be real competative as last I saw for SCCA Pro and Club rallying it limited the displacement for classing at 2.65 (so my XT6 wouldn't qualify for the smaller engine size). Instead it put it in the same class as the other flat company. . Now I don't think I could coax my XT to be competative in that class.
