Best tires?

What are everyone's recommendation for stock size tires? had great luck with the originals but want to hear everyone's experience.

ALSO, what's the best size to upgrade to from the skimpy 97 215/55/16s?
Thanks

Significant Technical Input Registered SVX Classic SVX
My vote is for the Toyo Proxes 4. They are quieter and much more responsive in the wet and dry than the Yokohama AVSdb S2.

UTG rating of 300 Traction AA temperature A

Most of the SVXs came with 225-50-16 from the factory on stock alloy wheels. I don't know why Subaru changed the size down to what you have now.

For the money...

The Sumitomo HTR+ is hard to beat. UTG rating of 360, Traction AA and Temp A. It is also WR speed rated, and b/c it's a Ultra High Performance All season tire, you can use it year round.

Ride noise will be higher than the Yokohama AVSdb, but it's a trade off that's well worth it as Tire Rack gives it a score of excellent in every category (dry & wet traction, hydro resistance, snow traction, cornering, steering response, ride comfort, noise and tread wear). Best part of all, they only cost $69 a tire at the Rack.

Tire Choices in 225/50-16

BTW, several of my friends who own EVO's and STI's, have switched to these tires with +ve results!

Man, notice the 215 is 99. and the 225 is 125.!

I have one of these as a spare on my M3 and it's decent and almost as good as the Pilot sports I took off of it.

I'm considering F1 gyears if I'm going to be >100/tire. Anyone try Gyear Eagle HPs?
